Dawn Lynne (Adams) Shoots

 We lost Dawn on July 5, 2022 as she passed away peacefully with family by her side. She was born on October 11, 1942, an only child to Jeanne Lucille Wemple and William Thomas Shearer.

After graduating from Penfield High School, she spent some time going to college and working. She married her husband, Paul Danton Shoots, in 1962 and they began raising their family in Victor, NY, before moving to Penn Yan.  She spent the majority of her younger years taking care of her 6 children. She tied grapes and babysat neighbor’s kids and grandkids. She and her husband always had a garden that would feed, not only her family but also the community. She loved her garden and sharing her canned goods and fresh veggies with anyone who wanted them. When her children were older she enjoyed working in the computer lab and with the special needs children at the Penn Yan School District. She spent many years cultivating the relationships of friends and neighbors alike. We will fondly remember the many gatherings at the house.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, cousin and friend.  She is survived by her six children, Michael (Lois) Shoots, Donna (Gary) Bailey, Daniel Shoots, David (Lisa) Shoots, Stephen (Jenn) Shoots and Jeffrey (Susan) Shoots; fourteen grandchildren, Michael and Marshall Shoots, Kenneth and Daniel Ledgerwood, Justin Shoots, Cassie and Amanda Shoots, Ian and Hayden Shoots, Nicholas and Katie Shoots, Audrey, Aiden, and Colin Quinn; sister Melodee (Shearer) and David Mensch (daughter Faith); brother Frank and Kathy Shearer (their children Matt and Mel Shearer and Jessica and Brandon Cohick (daughter Addison)). In-Laws, Eileen Gippe, Ginny Rice, Dorothy Toomey, James (Phyllis) Shoots, Jeanne (Tom) Yonker.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Dawn's Life will be held July 17, 2022 from 12pm – 3pm at the Yatesville Methodist Church, 1894 Yatesville Rd. Penn Yan, NY 14527.
