Maria “Chris” Lindsay (Stevenson) died peacefully at Hill Haven Nursing Home on September 27, 2017, in Webster, New York. She was 69 years old.
Chris is survived by her daughter, Maria “Tina” Lawson of Ontario, New York; granddaughters, Brittany Jones-Pugh and Caitlin Madison; her brother, William “Bucky” Stevenson and his wife Margaret “Peggy” Stevenson of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is preceded in death by, her father, William M. Stevenson and her mother, Annie Mae Stevenson (Mumford) and Robert L. Lindsay, all of whom lived the better part of their lives in the Tidewater Area of Virginia.
Chris was born on November 14,1947 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She attended Cradock High School. She became a Registered Nurse, as an Adult Learner, at Portsmouth General School of Nursing. She spent many years at Portsmouth General Hospital caring for women on the OB/GYN Unit. Later, she was employed by the Portsmouth Public Heath Department. There she continued to follow her passion for Women’s Health.
Eventually, Chris moved to Upstate New York to be with her daughter, Tina, and her family.
