Rochester: Age 90, passed away at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester, NY on March 10, 2019. Originally from Johnson City, NY, she was preceded in death by her parents John and Elizabeth (Matey) Janoff; her husband Raymond J. Slavetsky; her brother and his wife, Karl and Eugenia (Wiley) Janoff.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa A. (Slavetsky) Slater and her husband Gary L. Slater of Rochester, NY; her son Karl J. Slavetsky and his wife Jacqueline (Rake) Slavetsky of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Her enormous personality and friendly smile will be missed by all. Jeanette was a communicant of St. James Church in Johnson City, NY. She was known as being a skilled seamstress, an avid fan of the NY Mets, and an animal lover who shamelessly doted on several family cats throughout her lifetime. She was also known for making the best apple pies in the world, which her family will never be able to recreate but will always remember.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Patrick’s Calvary Cemetery on Harry L. Drive in Johnson City, NY. Details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to S.P.E.A.K. Animal Hospital and Cat Sanctuary (Binghamton, NY) or Verona St. Animal Society (Rochester, NY).
