Allen Huntress Bulkley III Obituary

Allen Huntress Bulkley III, 83, of Odessa, NY, passed away on July 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Allen was born on December 21, 1941 in Montour Falls, NY. He attended Odessa Montour Central High School, graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and Elmira College with a Master’s degree in Education. Allen worked as a New York State Trooper for 20+ years.  After retiring from the NYSP, Allen ran the family Apiaries for many years and also collected Ithaca Calendar Clocks.

Allen is survived by his children, Allen H. IV (Beth) and Katharine (Kay) Bulkley; his sister, Marcia Bischoff (Kurt); his grandchildren, Sarah Bulkley (Evan), Alison Bulkley (Dan), David Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, and Madison Bulkley; his great-grandchildren, Cameron Jacobs, Sawyer Bruno, and Lucas Bruno; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and special friend Bonnie Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen H. Jr and Frances Bulkley, and his wife, Margaret (Connie) Bulkley. 

Allen joined the New York State Police on 6/13/1963 and retired 6/19/1983.  He spent his last ~5 years in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.  Allen continued communications with many of his law enforcement buddies until his death.

Allen’s enthusiasm for sports (NY Yankees & NY Giants) was contagious, and he seized every opportunity to support with his family and friends. His sense of humor and sharp wit brought joy and laughter to those around him, creating countless cherished memories. His playful banter, clever remarks, and hearty laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Allen's pranks were material of legends, always creative and unexpected, adding an extra layer of fun to family gatherings. His adventurous spirit took him and his family to many places around the world. Allen's love for life, his mischievous antics, and his desire to bring joy to others were evident in everything he did.

A special thank you to the staff of the Surgical (Neuro) ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital.  Each and every person that took care of Allen in his final weeks were professional, acted with compassion and provided excellent care.

Based on Allen’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.  The committal will be at the convenience of the family at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
