Barbara J. Gath

Barbara J. Gath passed away peacefully while on hospice care at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, on June 25,2026, at the age of 92. She was a lifetime resident of the Nunda area. Barbara was predeceased by her mother and father, Stanley Wilkins; her husband Robert Gath; daughters Sandy Spencer and Dawn Duryea, and her son Roy Gath. Grandchildren Jeremy Gath and Alicia Gath, along with her brothers Alan and Eugene Wilkins.

She is survived by her sons Bob (Diane) Gath of Nunda, Floyd (Lucy) Gath of Nunda, Mark (Deborah) Gath of Hunt, and daughter-in-law Margaret LaGeorge of Nunda; 30 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Her siblings; Cindy (Tom) Meacham, Judy (Paul) Burrows, Keith (Tootles) Wilkins, Carol Andrews, and Holly Wooster; sister-in-law Vivian Wilkins; nieces, nephews and friends. 

Barbara graduated in the class of 1953. She worked on the family farm and found employment at Warsaw Hospital in the winter along with the Canning Factory during the summer. She also spent a number of years working at the knitting mill in Perry. She later went on to take a position as a Mechanical Stores Clerk at Groveland Prison, where she retired. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends at many family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, canning, reading, puzzles, watching game shows and westerns. She attended Dalton Assembly of God church for many years. 

A Celebration of Barbara's Legacy will be held at Dalton Assembly of God Church on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00am with a gathering and dinner to follow at the Nunda Firehall, all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Livingston County Hospice, or Dalton Assembly of God in Barbara's memory.
