With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, the family of Clare Rosamund (Tuscher) Dallavia announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the age of 96. Clare spent the last years of her life in the Rochester, NY area. She resided at the Fairport Skilled Nursing Facility for the past two years.
Born on January 30, 1929, Clare grew up in Penn Yan, NY. Clare devoted her life to family, hard work, and service to others. She married the love of her life, James F. Dallavia, with whom she shared 62 years of devotion before his passing in April 2021.
Clare began her early career as a secretary for Cataract Audit on Third Street in Niagara Falls. When many look toward retirement, Clare instead embraced a new calling — joining the Health Association of Niagara County (HANCI), where she dedicated herself to caring for people in their homes. Her compassion, humility, and tireless work ethic touched many lives.
Clare’s dedication to helping others extended far beyond her career. She faithfully donated blood to the American Red Cross throughout her life, a simple but powerful act of generosity that helped countless people she would never meet.
A woman ahead of her time, Clare believed deeply in caring for her health and staying active. She exercised faithfully long before it was fashionable and continued her routines well into her 90s. She was generous, caring, and steadfast in all she did, taking pride in both her work and her home.
Clare treasured simple joys: coffee with friends and family, lively conversations, and especially time spent with her beloved late sister, Yvonne Douglas. She also had a lifelong love of music and theater, finding joy and inspiration in the arts.
Clare is survived by her children Cynthia Joy Lund, Cheryl (Michael) Goupil, and Scott (Lisa) Dallavia; grandchildren Aaron and Noah Churchill; Steven, Jonathan, Gregory, Matthew, and Elise Goupil; and Ryan (Grace) Dallavia, Kristin and Brandon Dallavia; brother-in-law James F. Douglas and sister-in-law, Erika Tuscher, as well as several great-grandchildren. Also, many nieces and nephews who dearly loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Oz and Josephine Schiavi; her brother, Tom Tuscher; and sisters, Betty Lindsey (Bernie), Yvonne (James) Douglas and Patricia Caggiano. She will be remembered for the warmth she shared, the quiet strength she carried, and the love she gave freely.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her and in the many lives she touched through kindness and quiet service.
There will be a family memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Red Cross in Clare’s memory.
