Eileen Elizabeth Kunsman (Korb), age 82, passed peacefully on December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 19, 1943, in Rochester, New York, Eileen spent most of her life in a neighborhood filled with the neighbors she cherished. She also treasured the year she lived in Hawaii, where she learned to play the ukulele while waiting for her husband to return from the service, a time she often remembered with joy.
Eileen was deeply rooted in a large and loving family. One of five sisters, she grew up surrounded by the laughter, closeness, and joy that came with being part of the Buckley family: a vibrant network of aunts, uncles, and cousins who remained an important part of her life. Many of her happiest childhood memories were spent at Conesus Lake and Silver Lake, places forever woven into the fabric of their family stories. As the years went on, the families her sisters created became just as central, with cousins and their children becoming an intricate part of every holiday and celebration. Attending this past year’s family reunion brought her immense joy, giving her the chance to reconnect, reminisce, and feel held once more by the people who shaped her earliest years.
Family was everything to Eileen. She devoted her life to creating a home filled with special moments and the little touches that created lasting memories. She was smart, witty, and endlessly imaginative. Her love for the holidays was legendary, from the scenic sugar eggs at Easter, magical Christmas mornings, the work of the Leprechauns, Thanksgiving Day feasts, her famous pies, and the assortment of Christmas cookies that everyone looked forward to each year.
A talented baker and dreamer, Eileen founded Kunsman’s Kakes, creating exquisite cakes that brought joy to weddings, birthdays, holidays, and celebrations of every kind. Her creations touched countless lives and remain a sweet part of her legacy. Eileen taught those around her how to be strong, how to love deeply, and how to show up for others through every season of life. Her family will forever remember her sacrifices, her generosity, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eileen leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Bruce D. Kunsman, and their four children: Amy, Heidi, Allison, and Greg, all of whom carry her strength, resilience, and capacity for unconditional love. She also leaves behind her only (favorite) grandchild, Tarl, who held a very special place in her heart; and her sisters Nancy (Ron) Talbot, Mary Catherine (Bob) Fenton, and Patricia Mulcahy. Eileen was predeceased by her sister, Annette Korb.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Webster Arboretum, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Eileen’s memory. Open House from 4pm–7pm Webster Arboretum, 1700 Schlegel Rd. Webster, NY 14580.
