Evan D. Bringley, 70, of Greece, NY, passed away at home on April 21, 2023. Evan was born on August 19, 1952, in Rochester, NY, to the late Bernard and Thelma Bringley.
Evan is survived by his brothers, Tom and Jim (Sandra) Bringley, and his very special friends Becky and Marilyn Parchus. He was also survived by his aunt Jane Bringley, nephews Eric and Alex Bringley, his cousins David Bringley, Bill Dambrowski, Chris (Bruce) Steele, Sue (Linda Donahue) Dambrowski, Kate Koler and Arron Dilloway.
In addition to his loving parents, Evan was preceded in death by his aunts Corine Dambrowski and Judy Dilloway, both favorite uncles Don Dambrowski and Bob Bringley, and his cousins Donna Dambrowski and Michelle Carpenter.
Evan has been described as a unique person with a soft heart; someone that would always tell you what was on his mind. His love, care and devotion for his brother Tom was lifelong and unwavering. Throughout his life, Evan naturally took up for those that were overlooked, forgotten or without a voice. He would brighten the day for many forgotten seniors at Thelma's nursing home by communicating with warmth, a smile, and treating them with the respect they deserved. He advocated, not only for Tom, but for all the clients at the group homes. Even though Evan didn't always show it, he understood the role of a caretaker and appreciated the caring Nurses and staff at Tom's group homes and Day-Rehabs over the years. He knew that your jobs are not easy and would often say that it takes special people to do what they do every day.
Evan graduated from Gates Chili High School in 1970 and had a number of diverse careers. Evan trained and raced Standard-bred horses (Trotters and Pacers) all over the country for more than 10 years. After training race horses, he landed in South Florida where he started and operated a successful local Moving company. After selling that business he returned to Rochester where he carved out a different career in sales. He opened a used car lot, dabbled in land development, and later was a founding partners of National Truck Brokers that sold tractor-tailers and trucks of all kinds throughout the North East. Evan always loved his business partners and overall, he just liked being around and working with interesting and talented people. In his later sixties he realized that he had not cashed a paycheck since high school; so, he joined the US State Department through the New York Regional Census Center. There he contributed to the upfront Residence Mapping effort and then the 2020 Census itself. The US State Department had never before seen an employee with Evan’s unique combination of people skills, communication style and underdeveloped computer expertise.
For hobbies Evan enjoyed studying and admiring the interior architectures of casinos all over the world. He also enjoyed travel, betting on horse races, dog races, Jai alai matches and pro sports; mostly football.
An informal Calibration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9th, at James Gray Funeral Home, located at 1530 Buffalo Rd in Gates. In lieu of flowers, Evan would like you to
