On February 18, 2026 at age 81, Gary passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents Earl & Margaret Sheard and sister-in-law Nora Sheard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Laurie Sheard; children Barbara (Dale) Fisher, Brian (Melissa) Sheard, Kenneth (Tara) Sheard; grandchildren Brandon (Jill) Fisher, Amber (Allen) Fisher, Brent (Lauren) Sheard, Kaden Sheard, Trent Sheard and Rayne Sheard; great grandchildren Margaret and Winona Sheard; brother Randolph Sheard; nieces Shari (Frank) Joy and Terri Sheard; extended family and friends.
He found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether camping beneath the stars, hunting at sunrise, or fishing on a quiet lake, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. The woods and waters were not just hobbies to him, but places where he built memories, shared stories, and lived life to the fullest.
