James A. "Jamie" Lawrence, Sr., 64, of Caledonia, New York, passed away on February 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 27, 1961, in Caledonia, New York, Jamie was the beloved son of Mary and John "Jack" Lawrence of Caledonia, NY. A proud graduate of York High School, he distinguished himself as a talented cross-country athlete, earning athletic honors and forming friendships that would last a lifetime.
Jamie dedicated many years of his career to G&W Railroad, where he worked as a skilled brakeman with many specialties. Known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and pride in his craft, he valued the railroad community he was part of and the lifelong connections it brought him.
Above all else, Jamie loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his five children: Vasilios, Maria, Melissa, Emily, and James; and his cherished grandchildren: Chloe, Ava, David, Niko, and Blakely. His greatest joy was being a father and grandfather, and he carried deep pride in his family.
Jamie had a lifelong love of music, dogs, the outdoors, and classic cars. Whether enjoying time outside, listening to his favorite songs, or gathering with friends and family, he lived with a spirited appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He valued loyalty, friendship, and connection, and he will be remembered for his strength, humor, and the deep love he had for those closest to him.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
