John Anthony Frisenda was born on August 11th, 1943, and passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2023. He is survived by his daughter Veronica, his mother Evelyn, and his siblings Sue, Joey, Lou, and David. John was born and raised in Rochester, New York and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. After attending a few community colleges, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in art history from SUNY Brockport, followed by his master’s degree in ceramics at RIT. He was incredibly passionate about the arts and went on to have a successful career in academia for over thirty years. He even had his own store for a while in Hammondsport, NY where he sold his own handmade artwork. John loved to travel, especially to Italy, the country he had traveled to the most in his life, both for work and for his own enjoyment. He had the pleasure of taking his wife and daughter there for their first trip back in 2009, where they got to meet John’s dear old friend and his family in Pisa. John was a very talented cook and had a great appreciation for the art of food. He loved hosting and entertaining others. After living in several different states, John and his wife Elena found home again back in New York State, while their daughter Veronica remained in California. After Elena’s passing in 2022, John found a small, peaceful home for himself and his loving dogs Mila and Rocco. John had the joy of taking one final trip to Italy, joined by his daughter, sister, and brother-in-law, just months before he passed. In one way or another, hopefully that is where he is now, enjoying an espresso and cannoli. He will be greatly missed.
