John Alan Potter Obituary

On December 8, 2025, at age 76, John Alan Potter passed away peacefully. Born with a courageous spirit and a heart full of generosity, John lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for family and friends.

He is predeceased by his daughter Lisa Dupont Stang; brother Wayne Earl Potter; sister Jacqueline Denise Potter; parents Earl and Jacqueline Potter (Abrams).

He is survived by his daughter Lori (David) Dupont Popielski; partner Cindy Ridd; stepchildren Chelsie Ridd and Tyler (Ange) Ridd; grandchildren Celina Bogoniewski, EJ Popielski, Parker Stang, Quentin Stang, and Elliott Stang; sisters Andrea Potter, Nancy Potter, Frances (Bruce) Younger, Paula Regan, Charlene Streeter; brother David Potter; nieces and nephews Jennifer Frens, Jason Frens, Jared Murray, Gretchen Potter, Matt Regan, Cassandra Stone, Nicole Wilson, Hannah Younger, and Rachel Younger.

John was a Wolf clan member of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, a community he deeply loved and respected, and a heritage he carried with pride.

John proudly served in the United States Army and bravely fought in the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was a defining part of his character, and he carried the honor of his service throughout his life.

A skilled craftsman, John spent his career as a carpenter with Local 85 Union in Rochester, NY. His hands built more than structures —they built a legacy of hard work, integrity, and craftsmanship that will stand for generations. Outside of work and family, John found joy on the open road. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and riding motorcycles was his true passion. The freedom of the road with friends brought him peace and happiness. John also had a strong network of beloved and loyal friends who would do anything for him.

John will be remembered for his strength, kindness, hearty sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will remain forever in our hearts.

Services will commence in the spring.
