John F. Paulus, devoted husband, proud father and doting grandfather, 91 of Geneseo, NY, died on November 21st, 2024. He is survived by Sheila, his wife of nearly 60 years, and their children: William (Kimberly) of Ellsworth, ME; Steven (Sarah) of Rochester, NY, Nicholas (Julia) of Rochester, NY and eight grandchildren: Courtney, Erin, Luke, Katherine, Alexandria, Benjamin, Laura, and Carly.
John was born in Buffalo, NY in 1933 to John and Irene Paulus, and was the youngest of five children, predeceased by four incredible sisters; Joan, Jean, Betty, and Carol who he loved and looked up to. John served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After he returned home from the service, he graduated from Canisius University with a degree in Economics. Shortly after graduation he started his career in the New York State Division of Parole where, through a strong work ethic and a pit bull-like tenacity, he excelled. He earned several promotions and eventually advanced to Regional Director. He retired in 1993.
John was a loving husband and father, and his family will dearly miss him. John left with them numerous life lessons. Chief among them: hard work builds character, and a Dry Manhattan should be made with good bourbon on the rocks, dry vermouth and garnished with a twist of lemon.
By his request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, raise a glass to his beloved Buffalo Bills.
