Marcellene "Marcie" Richardson Obituary

On July 16, 2020, our mother and best friend, Marcie Richardson, passed at the age of 83. She is survived by William Richardson (divorced husband, but remained close friends); her brothers Ronald (Rosemary) Brannan, Martin (Mary Ann) Brannan, and William Brannan. She was the beloved mother of Deborah (Richard) Wharff, Thomas (Sue) Farley and Kathleen Richardson. She was a grandma to nine children and great grandma to 11 children with another one due in August. Her grandkids were her pride and joy—second only to her canine companion, Roxy. She lived her life as a strong and independent woman, but in her final years, when walking and caring for herself became a challenge, she received the loving support of her dear friend Barbara Newberry.

“Mom, you fought so hard, right up to your last breath. You overcame cancer and dealt with kidney disease until you could no more. Now you are at peace, accepted into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, joining your mom and dad--Jennie and Jay Brannan—brothers, Jim and Arland, and baby sister Sarah. We will miss you so much, you were such an inspiration to your children, encouraged us to always follow our dreams, live life to the fullest, and never look back with regret.”

Mom requested no services, so to honor her memory – we held a Celebration of Life picnic with family, just as Mom would have liked. There will be a private interment later this week.

The nurses and staff at the Hildebrandt were a godsend to us. Kindly consider a memorial contribution to the Lifetime Care Hildebrandt Hospice Center, online at lifetimecare.org/donate or mail to Lifetime Care c/o Rochester Regional Health Foundations, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607.

Without dialysis, Mom’s life would have been cut short by five years. Please consider a donation in her memory to the National Kidney Foundation. https://www.kidney.org/donation
