Reid Norman Doe Obituary

Reid Norman Doe of Marion, NY, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025 at the age of 77 years. He was born on March 25, 1947 in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Violet Doe, and his sister's partner, Gary Geldorf.

Reid was a devoted husband and partner to Elaine (McAllister) Doe for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and their daughter, Macey, as well as two children from a previous marriage, Amy (Peter) Novack and Jason (BrandiAnne) Doe, grandchildren Xander, Rori, Adley, Skyler, and Desalynn, sister Sue Mele, brother Rick (Gale) Doe, half-brother Michael (Ann) Mellor, brothers-in-law James (Lucy) McAllister and Lonnie McAllister, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graduate of the Webster Central School District, Reid furthered his education at SUNY Oswego and dedicated his professional life to the Penfield Central School District, serving as an industrial arts/technology teacher and department head. Not just an educator, Reid was a mentor who inspired countless students through his involvement with the Photography Club, RC Planes Club, and Yearbook Club. His enthusiasm for teaching and his commitment to his students were evident in every interaction. In addition to his role in education, Reid was a skilled professional photographer, general contractor and mechanic. After his retirement from teaching in 2004, he created a small general contracting business, R&D Custom, and enjoyed working with his customers.

When he wasn't spending hours repairing and maintaining his vehicles, equipment and properties, he enjoyed riding his motorcyle, scuba diving, hunting, boating, and entertaining friends and family at his summer getaway on No. 9 Island on the St. Lawrence River. An avid animal lover, he had a special connection with his many dogs and cats over the years. He was particularly fond of his cat, Moose, who survives him.

The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. To honor his memory, his wish was for donations to be made to the Wayne County Humane Society or a local animal shelter of your choice in his name.
