Velma Lee King, affectionately known as "Momma" to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of profound love, deep faith, and gentle grace.
Born on December 6, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia, Momma was a woman of extraordinary spirit and creativity. From a young age, she grew up loving fashion and held bright aspirations to become a clothing designer—a creative eye and elegant flair that beautifully reflected her vibrant personality. She embraced every aspect of life through her deeply personal relationship with religion, living out a spiritual belief that was truly amazing to witness. More than anything, she was the calm in the storm for each person she encountered in this life, offering a steady, peaceful presence to anyone in need. Her infectious laugh, joyful spirit, and famous love of sweets made her an absolute joy to be around, brightening every room she entered.
As a devoted mother, her family was her greatest pride. She is survived by her loving sons, Jimmy Hightower and Kenny Hightower. Her beautiful legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved siblings and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her warmth every day.
