The Direct Cremation Process:



• Once we are notified, our Licensed Funeral Directors will transfer your loved one into our care.

• The moment we return to our secure facility with your loved one. Their name and personal information is entered into a database. A unique code is generated, which will accompany your loved one while in our care .

• A meeting with a Licensed Funeral Director will take place to complete the necessary authorizations, discuss any arrangements and answer all questions. We will assist in the drafting of an obituary which will be posted on our website and social media accounts for easy sharing at no additional cost.

• Your loved one is carefully dressed and placed into a cremation container, which is then sealed and transported by licensed funeral director to the crematory.

• At the crematory, we provide the “Authorization for Cremation” and “Burial Transit Permit.” We review a “Receipt for Decedent” which is signed by our Funeral Director and filed in our office.

• The Crematory attendant assigns a unique number to your loved one and affixes a steel medallion embossed with that number to the cremation container to ensure positive identification throughout the cremation process.

• Your loved one’s cremains will be returned to Genesee Valley Cremation in a temporary urn, by a Licensed Funeral Director. The temporary urn will be secured until such time as you are prepared to receive it.
